Wear gloves, boots, bright colors, and bring a tool
Use gloves, rake, shovel, trash grabber. Maybe sharp stuff in there or bacteria. Boots will help you not slip. Also bright colors so cars can see you.
Careful of open manholes and traffic
Stay on sidewalk if you can, don’t stand where traffic might swerve into you. Also sometimes flooding pushes manhole covers so look carefully and be sure you see where you stepping.
Moving water can knock you down
It is easy to get knocked down in moving water, takes only 6 inches to make it hard to walk.
